The new Edinburgh office marks SGPB Hambros’ first venture in Scotland. We believe that Edinburgh forms a natural hub for Scotland’s wealth creation and the financial services industry, making it an ideal location to service Scotland’s high net worth individuals. 

The Edinburgh office is fronted by Senior Private Bankers Mike Smith and Chris Thomson, who are assisted by James Burley.

Mike Smith has been providing investment and financial advice to international private clients for over 20 years.  American born, Mike worked in Washington DC for 15 years before joining Merrill Lynch International Bank in London and Edinburgh in 1998.  Following Merrill Lynch, Mike founded and managed the Kleinwort Benson Private Bank operation in Scotland, before joining SGPB Hambros in October of 2008.

Chris also joined SGPB Hambros from Kleinwort Benson where he worked alongside Mike Smith to build up a portfolio of loyal clients.  Prior to this, Chris spent twelve years in investment banking split between New York and London.  In 2004 he returned to his native Edinburgh and moved into the world of private banking where he now helps a number of successful individuals, trusts and charities to fulfill their financial aspirations.
