How trusts work

In common law countries, trusts are an institution – it is created when an individual (the Settlor) transfers ownership of a property to another individual (the Trustee); and by which the Trustee undertakes to manage this property in the interests of a third person (the Beneficiary), within a framework defined by an official document (the Trust Deed).

The Trust has many advantages: the freedom to nominate either a person or a legal entity as beneficiaries; the opportunity to minimize tax liabilities in certain circumstances; the flexibility to allocate capital or set up an annuity, and last but not least ensure confidentiality when needed.
